Project Tab¶
The project data, a list of all recordings and bat calls is displayed in the project tab. A map and statistics diagrams gives you a quick overview over all the data.
Most actions can be applied directly by working with the recordings list. For detailed analysis of a recording, it can be opened in a Recording Tab.
Contents
Project attributes¶
A quick overview about the project is shown. Project name, creation date, number of recordings, calls and notes regarding the whole project.
Recordings list¶
List of all recordings that can be filtered and sorted. Double-click a recording item or click its Name-link to open it in a separate Recording Tab.
The recordings list can be displayed in two ways with those buttons. As list view or table view.
List view¶
The spectrogram displayed in the list can be displayed in two ways:
A sequence of the loudest calls is displayed (default). This shows the calls which are important for the analysis at a glance. The loudest call of the recording and the previous and subsequent calls up to a max. number (default 15) are cut and concatenated.
The first 2 seconds of the recording is displayed. This allows a quick overview of the recording quality to see if calls or possible other noise caused the trigger. Typically a pre-trigger time of 0.5s (default) is used. Therefore after about a quarter of the spectrogram, the first calls should be recognizable.
The display mode can be changed in the Project settings. For a more detailed analysis it is recommended to open the recording in a new tab by eg. double click it. There, the spectrogram and other useful information of the recording is presented in the whole length.
Columns¶
To choose the columns displayed, right-click the header of the recordings list view or table view. A list of the available columns is shown. Show/Hide a column by clicking the respective item in the list. To rearrange columns, left click and hold the column header. Drag & drop the header to a new position. To change its width, move the mouse between two headers and drag the separator.
Sort recordings¶
A column can have three sorting states: unsorted, sorted ascending and sorted descending. Click the column header to change between these states. To sort by further criteria, click an other header while holding down the ‘Shift’ key. The sort direction and order is indicated by arrows and numbers.
Recording actions¶
Various actions can be applied to a recording directly in the list.

Click the Select… link to open the species list. Choose a species from the list to assign it to the recording. Use the Search field to narrow the selection options. Shift-Click the Select… link to enter a custom species text. Click the Suggest Species… link to display a list of suggested species. Choose a species from the list to assign it to the recording.
Apply actions to multiple recordings¶
To apply actions like delete, assigns species and so on to one or multiple recordings, select one or multiple recordings by clicking the corresponding recordings row. Use the Shift and Ctrl keys to select multiple recordings. Press CTRL+A to select all recordings.
Right-click the selection to open the context menu. Choose an action from the menu to apply it to the selection.

See Options for customization.
Metadata¶
On the right side of the project tab, the metadata of the recordings is displayed. If a filter is active, only data of the visible recordings is shown.
Calls list¶
In this overview the following details are shown: The number of the recording, the number of the call inside the recording, length of the call in ms, max frequency, min frequency and call shape. See Bat call parameters for more information on the bat call parameters.
Statistics¶
In the statistics overview you can find a quick overview about the number of calls recorded, the peak frequencies and the species. These images or the data can be exported with a right click. See Export for additional information.
Activity
This shows the number of recorded calls during the recording period.
Tip
To change x-axis from and/or to date/time setup a filter with custom dates/times.
Frequencies
This shows which peak frequencies the recorded calls have.
Frequencies/Time
This shows the species recorded over time.
Check Group by time of night to display the frequency distribution by daytime, independent of the recording date. Time of night is a range from 12:00 to 12:00 next day. This may help finding specific behaviour or extraordinary events. When grouping is enabled, zooming will filter recordings by daytime as well.
Tip
To change x-axis from and/or to date/time setup a filter with custom dates/times.
Species
This shows a summary of the different species recorded.
BATLOGGER Meta-Data¶
All the details of the detector which made that recording are shown. Including trigger details and GPS details.
Click the top right button in the Meta-Data panel to open device log files (see below).
Recording Notes¶
Add notes directly to one recording. If you want to add notes to more than one recording, select the recordings in the list or table view and add a recording with right click assign –> notes
